Antonio Bunster is a farmer and winemaker from Molina, central Chile. Antonio received a 2020 Nuffield Scholarship and currently manages his family farm, which consists of a mixed operation of 220 hectares, including grass-fed beef cattle, vineyards, lucerne, seed production and sweet cherries. He also started a small-scale winemaking project in 2018, sourcing grapes from centuries-old, dry farmed vines from traditional Chilean wine regions such as Maule and Curico Valleys.
During his scholarship Antonio explored different wine regions in Spain, Portugal, France, UK and Italy in order to understand common traits in successful growers and wine regions and how to implement measures to help wine growers in Chile. Antonio's scholarship was made possible by Nuveen and Exportaciones Meyer.
Antonio holds diplomas in organic agriculture and agribusiness management and a degree in agronomy from Pontificia Universidad Catlica de Chile. He and his wife Isabel have three young daughters.
