Applications open for 2027 Nuffield International Farming Scholarships

A chance to explore the world, lead your industry, and join a global network of farmers

Applications for the 2027 Nuffield International Farming Scholarships are now open. From 13 July until 31 October 2026, farmers and primary producers in eligible countries can apply for one of the most rewarding opportunities in global agriculture -- the chance to travel the world, learn from the best, and bring fresh thinking home to their industry and community.

A Nuffield Scholarship is a global agricultural leadership programme. Scholars choose a topic that matters to their industry and spend 14 weeks over two years exploring it -- meeting farmers, researchers, businesses and policymakers around the world -- before sharing what they learn. In doing so, they join a network of some 2,000 Nuffield Scholars worldwide.

The 2027 cohort will come together for the first time at the Contemporary Scholars Conference in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, from 21 to 28 February 2027, with an optional -- and highly recommended -- pre-conference tour of Kenya beforehand. From there, scholars take part in a five-week Global Focus Program across several countries, followed by seven weeks of individual study on their chosen topic.

Nuffield International welcomes applications from citizens and permanent residents of Poland, Germany, Romania, Chile, Japan, Taiwan, Zambia and Malawi. Applicants in the UK, Ireland, Zimbabwe, the Netherlands, France, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, the USA and Brazil should apply through their own country's Nuffield organisation. You don't need a university degree -- we look for drive, character and the potential to grow into a leader who gives back to their industry and community.

"A Nuffield Scholarship changed the course of my own career, and I have watched it do the same for farmers all over the world. If you are curious about agriculture beyond your own front gate, and ready to lead, I would encourage you to apply."

-- Jodie Redcliffe, Chief Executive Officer, Nuffield International (2013 Scholar)
