From Fruit to Food Cooperatives: Eight Global Scholars Join Nuffield International to Shape the Future of Agriculture

Nuffield International is proud to announce the eight new scholars who will embark on transformative research journeys to tackle critical issues in agriculture. Representing Japan, Poland, Chile, Romania, and Germany, these scholars will explore topics ranging from regenerative agriculture and eco-friendly food production to irrigation solutions and agroecology.

The announcement highlights the organization's vision of inspiring agricultural leadership to address the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly changing world.

A Global Focus on Agricultural Innovation

Each scholar will spend 15 weeks over the next 18 months traveling the world, delving into their chosen research topics, and gathering insights from leading agricultural enterprises, research institutions, and farmers. Upon completion, their findings will be shared to foster innovation and collaboration across the global agricultural community.

- Jose Pablo Luchsinger (Chile): Exploring Scalable Land Management Models for a Successful Transition to Agroecology.

- George Mailat (Romania): Implementing Best Irrigation Solutions for High-Value Crops Like Sweet Corn, Pumpkin, Potatoes, and Cabbage.

- Jenny Matthiesen (Germany): Selecting the Right Varieties for Organic Farming, Trial Management, and Advocacy.

- Mariela Ramirez (Chile): From Farm to Fork: Examining the Transformative Potential of Food Cooperatives.

- Shoshiro Yamamoto (Japan): Creating Added Value in Areas Where Land Consolidation is Slow.
